Who is Brown Dog Media?
Thanks for taking some time to check out Outwork’s website, and learn more about my gym and what my team and I can offer you. Seriously, to this day it humbles me that people trust us with their time, health and resources with me and my team, and it’s something we will never take for granted. I mean, I know we are 110% committed to getting you results through the best training and accountability ever, and that our literal mission for existing is to help you get stronger, healthier, and happier, but it never gets old, and I never appreciate it less. Every new OUTworker (what we call our clients) is the chance to change a life and have a positive impact on the community, and the world. So, for even checking this site out, thank you so, so much.
I think to understand what Outwork is, who our OUTworkers are and represent, and what you may have the opportunity to become a part of, it’s important that you understand my, and thus Outwork’s, story.
Growing up, I always wanted to be athletic and cool; I just wasn’t. Somehow, I missed the boatload of athletic genetics handed from my dad to my brother, and at least one of my sisters. Combine this with some wicked eating, and then self-esteem issues, and it made for a pretty not-cool. not-happy me. I started working out with my Dad when I was 14. I saw how he looked and how strong he was from working out since he was 17, and thought well, damn, I really don’t like myself or how I look…but if I looked like that, that’d be a pretty fucking cool place to start. So I did.
Fast forward to when I was 17, and I was a stronger, slightly more confident and also slightly fatter version of 14 year old me. After realizing football STILL wasn’t my thing due to suffering some pretty silly (and now, clearly avoidable) injuries from the way they had us lifting at football, I thought I was just destined to have a bad body, with bad self-confidence, and that was it. I felt truly hopeless, and honestly I hope nobody ever feels or thinks about the things I did then.
But then, something happened. I had stopped lifting with football (because again, clearly not destined to be an athlete) and went back to lifting the way my dad taught me, but adding things I learned, read, and witnessed. I tinkered. I played. I studied every single nutrition piece I could get my hands on. And I changed. And I learned. And I grew mentally as I finally was able to shrink physically. I finally ‘figured it out’ (and believe me, it’s not as sexy as some of these fitness gurus make it sound…there is no secret sauce). I can confidently tell you that I’ve been everywhere from 255lbs to 175lbs, and at 17 my two goals were to be 6’0” and 225 and jacked.
Well, I never got either of those, because i’m 5’8” and 225 and really only kinda jacked. But, hey, along the way, I learned how to love myself for the first time in a long time, how to appreciate the act and the process of getting healthy, and even inspired a bunch of other people to better themselves as well. I’m not one of those fitness people that only talks about fitness and eats gluten-free-carb-free-fun-free for life…not even close. I think fitness should enhance your happiness and your life, just like it enhances your health and your strength. Being strong physically prepares you, in some ways, for living a strong life mentally. At least it did for me.
After realizing that I liked helping people accomplish their own goals and build their own strong, happy, healthy lives, I decided to become a trainer. A few years later, in 2011, I realized there wasn’t any place I knew of helping people become strong, happy, and healthy. They might’ve done one or two, but never all of them.
That’s when I decided to open up a gym to train people. I had no clue what to do, no money, but a mission.
That’s why I created Outwork Fitness. We literally exists to provide a safe, friendly, and results-oriented environment where people of all walks of life can discover their true potential of strength, health, and happiness among other great people.
At Outwork Fitness, our purpose is to deliver you a training program that creates an environment where a client’s only option is to achieve the results they want and deserve. We want each of our OUTworkers to live a better life of strength, health, and happiness.
Our dedication to a supportive team approach consistently allows our clients to achieve personal success in a fun, challenging and results based atmosphere.
I speak confidently when I tell you that Outwork Fitness is probably the best gym in the McHenry County area. Our team’s attention to detail, knowledge and ability to stay on top of the latest training methods without falling for new fitness fads in our industry, continues to set us apart. All of this comes together to deliver you the most specific, relevant, and tailored fitness experience that helps you move better, feel better, and look better.
You can absolutely go to another gym and workout. You can even hire a personal trainer there. Maybe they’ll get you started in the right spot. Maybe they won’t.
But, Outwork is much more than just another gym, it’s your one stop shop with a brand new, healthy lifestyle in waiting.
At Outwork Fitness Fitness, you make a commitment to changing your life, for the better, and we will show you how. We’ve spent a ton of time cutting through the BS in the fitness industry. We don’t guilt you out of eating things you like, or make you feel bad for not losing 5lbs a week (because, after all, that’s probably unrealistic and not healthy). We teach you to move better and with less pain, and build a strong, resilient, capable body.
The Outwork Fitness Team has been helping clients in this community since 2011 and will continue for years to come. We are very proud of the work we’ve been able to do and the coaching we provide to our clientele, and honored to have so many Cary and McHenry County residents trust us as their results based training center.
We encourage you to come in, meet our team and see if we can build a plan that works for you. You won’t be greeted by a salesperson, instead you’ll meet our team and you will see that we are all about our delivering our clients results. If we find we aren’t the best fit for you, me or my team will direct you to a place that’ll better suit your needs.
We pride ourselves on this top notch coaching environment, client experience and results.
With that being said, our community might not be for everyone. If it’s not, you have my promise that i’ll point you in the right direction and make sure I put you on the right path to achieving your goals, one way or another.
Our OUTworkers make a commitment to become the strongest, healthiest, and happiest version of themselves.
Give us a try and then make your own personal commitment to getting better.
Your Coach,
Mike Spagnola
